30licious – Feast with $30++ Deals For 30 Days!

The selection of restaurants looks very attractive, ranging from familiar favourites such as Lawry’s The Prime Rib Singapore, Bedrock Bar & Grill, and Gyu Kaku; promising newer openings Bridge Café, El Mero Mero and Seaons Bistro; to Asian delights Kiku, Sawadee Thai Cuisine, Siam Society and Sync Korean Fusion Bistro.

UJONG @ Raffles
One of the restaurants that may catch your attention is UJONG at Raffles Hotel, which recently revamped its entire menu with a newly-appointed Group Executive Chef Mark Richards.

Their 30licious menu includes a Popiah appetizer, choice of Char Kway Teow or He Ye Fan (lotus leaf rice) as main, Housemade Mango Pudding and coffee or tea.

Between the two mains, I preferred the Char Kway Teow a little better for its ‘wok hei’ and fragrance, also fried with generous ingredients of Chinese sausages, crystal prawns and squid.

If you are the type who likes your Char Kway Teow full of ‘lup cheong’, this would be it. Plus, the noodles didn’t feel too oily.

It is not that common to see Lotus Leaf Rice presented as a main, usually seen as a dim sum item.

This Cantonese style double-steamed jasmine rice dish with roast pork, Chinese mushroom, rock shrimps, fried yam and Chinese sausage wrapped in lotus leaf would appeal to those who like something richer in flavour, yet not as heavy as what you would get in a typical Chinese restaurant.
